July 2010 – Monthly Roundup

New total 10, 940

Not sure how many of you read the Reader’s Digest but they ran an article (July edition) on Smalls For All.  Last month overall count was 9837 and given we now have 10940 think we can say that the response to the article was fabulous, although not sure my postman thinks so!  Over 70 people have emailed me so far and there has been a steady stream of parcels arriving.  I can’t believe it but a parcel addressed to “Maria Macnamara, Smalls For All, Livingston, West Lothian” made it to me the other day.  THANK YOU to all the people who emailed me, and sent underwear.  I’m still getting  emails daily with promises of support and receiving parcels which is great given the “Dignity Restored” campaign for Zimbabwe and I’m hoping to go back to Kenya in October.

Thanks again to Lynn and Malcolm for letting me extend my stockroom to their garage, and for helping me pack the 4500 undies for Zimbabwe.  I promise you will have your garage back soon…

ZIMBABWE

Well there is 4500 items of underwear boxed and bagged ready to go.  Just a few more to pack, I’m hoping that we will get to 5000 before Shirley arrives on the 31st to collect.

CHARITABLE STATUS

Pantastic news! On Friday I heard back from OSCR, and it’s great news.  They confirmed that the Constitution has all the relevant wording and that we’re good to go.  I just need to get the Constitution formally adopted, and then send back to finalise some paperwork.

CAN YOU HELP?

New pants and new or gently worn bras.

Knickers – ladies size 8 – 16

Boys / Girls – aged 3 to 15

Hi Myra, thanks for getting in touch and your interest in Smalls For All. I received official confirmation that I have charity status this week and I’m hoping to get a proper website up and running before the end of the month. To be honest it’s still early days, can do with all the help I can! What is it that you would like to do? I’ve recently just received around 1000 items of underwear from a church in Ballinteer! Thanks again for getting in touch. Maria

Hello , my name is Deborah

Yesterday I read the Readers Digest article

The way forward would be to contact high street stores and ask them to join this campaign, or, alternatively print off stickers and provide a large bin which shows contact details.

My sister’s daughter in law is head buyer for H&M and so I have written to her about this campaign. I also know someone whose son used to be a director at Store Twenty One and am forwarding details about the campaign to them also.
Just hope any provocative underwear isn’t included in deliveries as that would be counter=productive.
